Obituary of Margaret Granton
Granton, Margaret Katie We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Margaret in her 96th year. She passed away peacefully at Linhaven Home on Friday, December 20th, 2013. Predeceased by and now joyfully reunited with her loving husband Frank (2002) of 58 years. Also predeceased by her parents Mary and Joseph Fink. Loving mother of Colleen (Brian) Lavell, Cathy (Ted) Gibson of Port Dover, Carol (Mike) Jones of Fonthill, Tom (Mary) of Waterloo, Margie (Brian) Richardson of Fonthill, Paul (Cheryl) of Thorold. Cherished grandmother of 14: Chris, Katie and Heather Lavell, Tracey (Rich) MacDonald, Bryan (Stacy) Gibson, Susan (Andre) Bryan, Diane (Pete) Mosley, Syrena (Karim) Hamid, Jamie (Melissa) Jones, Jill (Mark) Whittrick, Adam (Rebecca) Richardson, Brett (Carissa) Richardson, Joseph and Amy Granton. Great-grandmother of 16: Avery, Laurel, Ella, Lauren, Janessa, Justin, Olivia, Lily, Edie, Elliott, Emmett, Emma, Molly, Cole, Everett and Hudson. Margaret was born and raised in Plunkett, SK with her 7 siblings. Predeceased by brothers Steve, Joe, Ernest and sisters Mary, Annie, and Kay. She is survived by her sister Rose and many nieces and nephews. Margaret enjoyed crafts, sewing, canning, cooking and baking for her family and was lovingly called "Cookie Grannie." Sincere appreciation to the staff of Linhaven Home, especially Dalhousie Ward Staff for their daily kindness and their compassionate care of our mother and grandmother. Friends may call at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St., St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Sunday December 22, 2013 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home Sunday December 22, 2013 at 3pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Julia Catholic Church, 251 Glenridge Ave., St. Catharines (905-684-5603) on Monday December 23, 2013 at 10am. Rite of Committal to follow at Victorial Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Alzheimer's Society or Linhaven Home would be appreciated by the family.
