Obituary of Cecile Lanthier
LANTHIER, Raymond and Cecile (nee Beaulieu) On April 17th and 18th respectively, Raymond (2 June 1921) and Cecile (28 July 1925) both passed away peacefully in their sleep at home. Beloved parents of Laurier and Louis. Proud Grandparents of Christine (Troy), Jillian, Courtney, Danielle, David and great-grandson Rowan. Fondly remembered by their many nieces and nephews. Raymond and Cecile were married for 72 years and passed within hours of each other. They moved from St. Anne-de-Prescott, Ontario in August 1950. Raymond and Cécile were pillars of Niagara’s Francophone community for many decades. Raymond was instrumental in the foundation of the French Catholic School on Church Street, a leader in the creation of Club La Salle and the driving force in the building of “ La résidence des Ainés” in St. Catharines. Raymond and Cécile are regarded as builders of St. Catharines’ Francophone Community. Raymond is survived by his brother Denis and predeceased by siblings Bruno, Fleur-Ange, Annette, and Yvette. Cecile is predeceased by her siblings Paul-Emile, René, Leo, Omer, Roger, and Theresa. We will all cherish our many happy memories of Sunday lunches at Grandmamas—especially her soup and winter maple taffy! Visitation will be held at Paroisee Immaculée-Conception Parish Hall on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9am to 10:30am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Paroisse Immaculée-Conception, 99 Garnet St., St. Catharines (905-934-4266) on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11am.
