Obituary of Margaret Kretz

Kretz, Margaret Passed away peacefully at her home in St. Catharines on Monday, August 7, 2017. In her 93rd year, Margaret Jessie Kretz (nee Keays), beloved wife of the late Alphonse (2005). Loving mother of Peggy Fast, Nancy (Craig Dunk) and Joan (Wayne Allan). Beloved grandma of Christopher (Gwendolyn), Karen, Megan (Andrew), Brian, Ashley, Amanda (Zachary), Heather, Josef, Kimberly (Stephen), Shane (Jinette) and Melanie (Jay). Great grandma of Jacob, Cayla, Alexis, Eric, Benjamin, Olivia, William, Andrew, Nicole, Kory, Emma and Logan. Dear sister of Melvin Keays (Sharon) and Dorothy (William Duhan). Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Alphonse (Alfie), and by four sisters Kathleen Lavoie, Ruth Hubbard, Mary (Mamie) Howe and Muriel (Theresa) Hickman. Margaret devoted many years to her church and children’s schools. She was a member of the C.W.L. for over thirty years and volunteering with the Out of the Cold Program for many years. Margaret will be remembered for her penchant for cooking for family and gatherings … her butter tarts and cream pies especially. Visitation will be held at Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street,St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 7:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, 67 Church St., St. Catharines (905-684-3964) on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 10am. Rite of committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to either the Out of the Cold Program at St. Catherine of Alexandria or Start Me Up Niagara.
