Obituary of Margaret Hage

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful wife & mom Margaret Grace(Redman) on September 16th 2023 at the age of 77 in St.Catharines, Ontario. She will be missed by her husband of 56 years Yopie(Johannes) & her beautiful children Margaret(Maggie Doll) & Johannes(Yopie Jr); daughter in law Debra & her beautiful grandbabies Jonathan, Lillian Grace, Olivia & Ethan. Sister “BUTCHIE” to Eddy & Mark Sister in law to Liz(Stan Travis) & Mary Helen & Estelle. Cousin to Helen(George Dionne) & Franny(Harold Dowd) & Billy Hockey. She’s a beloved aunt friend & co-worker. Predeceased by her parents Margaret Mary(Blais) 1967 &William(Bill) Redman 1988. Her brothers Billy 1938 &Ian(Susan 2016, Cathie 2008) 2014 & her son in law William(Bill) James Weir 2002;In laws Willy (2011), Pete 2002(BettyAnne 2017) & Hank(2023). Marg was born on July 1st 1946 on Canada Day. She dropped out of grade 8 & started work with Wethys & moved on to Boese’s canning factories until her married life in 1967. As the children came, she volunteered as a door canvasser for Canadian Cancer Society & doing reminder calls for blood donors of Red Cross. Planning family Redman gatherings was always a staple in her life. Her greatest achievements are: quit smoking of 51 years, her driver’s license & being a member of FRIENDS OF LOIS. She had a trip of a lifetime to Memphis Tennessee & retired in 2022, 32 years of being a CROSSING GUARD “to all of her children” at the same spot on Lake street and Pleasant. Special shout out to Aunt Liz for helping with everything & taking care of your brother(wink). She enjoyed nurses Sanish & Trevor for her medical needs. And ALL her visitors that took the time to see her We surely are gonna miss that wisdom, independence, strength & laughter you had. Love you MA. Friends are invited to join the family at GARDEN CITY FUNERALS AND CREMATIONS, Formerly the Patrick J Date Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street, St.Catharines (Downtown). Visiting Thursday September 21, 2023 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service in Celebration of her Life will take place at the funeral home on Friday September 22, 2023 at 11 am with cremation to follow. In honour of Margaret's memory donations made to either Ovarian Cancer or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
