Obituary of Dorothy Ann Gdanski R.N.

Gdanski, Dorothy Ann R.N. True love is everlasting... And so, less than two months after the passing of her dear husband Chester of over 60 years, in her 85th year, Dorothy Gdanski (nee Andrusiw) of Grimsby, joined him in eternal rest on April 25, 2019. Dorothy was a dedicated mother to five children and raised the family while working as a Registered Nurse. Dorothy worked at West Lincoln Hospital in Grimsby, The St. Catharines General and ended her career at the Shaver Rehabilitation Hospital. Her children are Steven Gdanski (Jo-Anne) of Grimsby and Mississauga, Susan Fraser (Graham) of Penticton BC, Andrea Sheehan (Kevin) of Barrie, Chris Gdanski (Jackie) of Regina,SK and Pam Haines (Vince) of Toronto. We are devastated to lose both parents in such a short time but are comforted that they are once again reunited. Loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren: Ryann, Matthew, Emily, Lucas, Andrew, Carson, Eryn, Logan, Sydney, Spencer, Aedan, Landon and Madison. Dorothy is predeceased by her parents: Stan and Stella Andrusiw, brother in law Paul Rupert, and sister in law Jean Gdanski. Fondly remembered by her brothers Len (Anne) Andrusiw of Vineland and Don (MaryLou) Andrusiw of St Catharines. In Dorothy’s spare time she enjoyed painting and making stained glass art work. Her passion was her family and she loved to cook and entertain for family and friends. Dorothy was a past president of the St. Joseph’s CWL. Dorothy and Ches were lifetime, founding members at Twenty Valley Golf Club. Dorothy was an avid slots player and found Casinos wherever she traveled, on cruise ships, Casino Niagara, Daisy Mart for scratch tickets and the lottery.....she hit it big a few times, and truly hit the jackpot living a charmed life with Chester. At the end of our life we can only hope for a peaceful transition, and Dorothy received that, surrounded by her children, in her home on Ridge Road in Grimsby, that she so loved and lived for 53 years. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 135 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 12noon..
