Obituary of Helen Stunt

Stunt, Helen Passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Niagara Health System St. Catharines Site on Thursday, December 18, 2014. In her 97th year, Margaret Helen Stunt (nee Kelly), beloved wife of the late Jack Stunt. Loving mother of John (Marnie), Paul (Julia), Bill (Renata), Steve,and Dean (Alison). Loved grandma of sixteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren. Dear sister of Cassie (Bill Bradbury). Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son Howie, a grandson Karl and one sister Mary. Helen was the epitome of a lifelong learner, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Brock University at age 65. She was an avid reader throughout her life and was a member of numerous book clubs. At age 90, using newly learned computer skills, she self published a hard copy edition of the story of her life,including photos, which is a wonderful legacy for her family. Talented with a creative flare, she enjoyed crafts of all kinds leaving many creations for her children and grandchildren to enjoy. Helen was blessed by a wide circle of good friends who provided her with great moral, spiritual and practical support over the years. Above all, Helen loved and cherished Jack and her own children. She also had a very special bond with her sisters, Mary and Cassie, and was never happier than when the house was full of joy and laughter of everyone around the dining room table. She was a ‘gentle’ woman, a thoughtful friend and a remarkable person who touched the lives of many. She will be greatly missed, but in her words, “It has all worked out.” Helen’s family wish to express their thanks to Dr. W. Gruber,Dr. C. Beutow, the sisters and friends at Mt. Carmel Home. Visitation will be held at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel,39 Court St., St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 2:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, 67 Church Street, St. Catharines on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
