Obituary of Mae Hagarty

HAGARTY, Mary Margaret “Mae” At the St. Catharines Hospital on Monday, May 11, 2015, Mae Hagarty (nee Dorey) in her 92nd year. Dear mother of Kathleen, Danny (Cookie), Mark (Debbie). Beloved Grandmother of TJ (Candice) and Great Grandmother of Jackson. Mae was predeceased by her parents, Nancy and William Dorey in 1960 and her sister Shirley in 1998. Mae was retired from the Hotel Dieu Hospital Kitchen. She was Brown Owl with the Brownies in the 60’s and was an influence on many young women. She also was an avid singer with the Sweet Adelines, Tune Twisters and Harmony Incorporated during the 70’s and 80’s. She spent many hours volunteering her time at senior residences, her church, a member of the C.W.L. and with Natchez Tours, a group that packages medications to be sent to underdeveloped countries. Visitation will be held at the Patrick Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St., St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Thursday, May 21st from 7 -9pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 169 St. Paul Crescent, St. Catharines (905-682-3843) on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 9:30 am. Rite of committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Walker Family Cancer Centre or the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
