Obituary of Betty Jean Kurhanowicz
Kurhanowicz, Betty Jean
Suddenly on Friday, September 4th at Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital in St. Catharines where she had been since April after having several falls and surgeries, in her 95th year. Beloved wife of Stephen Kurhanowicz for 51 years (pre-deceased September 3rd, 1998) Dearest mother of Christine and Jim Mathé of Milton, and much loved grandma of Sean Lucas and Kourtney of Milton and Lee Patrick and Jessana of Cambridge. Sister-in-law and friend of Dorothy Kurhanowicz. And of course Kai who gave her much to smile about. Pre-deceased by her parents Reuben and Ivy Pollock, her sister Lois Coon and brother-in-laws Nick Kurhanowicz and Sye Coon. Betty loved golfing with Steve and her grandsons Sean and Lee. She was an avid reader and she loved her crossword puzzles. She passed many hours making her crewel creations for her family. She enjoyed her travels with Steve and their friends and in her later years she enjoyed getting together with friends for Movie Tuesdays and for lunches and pasta dinners. But her most happy times were spent with Christine and Jim and her grandchildren - her family was so special to her, and the boys could talk her into doing and trying anything. She loved watching the boys’ hockey and baseball games and hearing about their travels and just sitting in any room listening to all that they were doing. She loved that they included her at all times. She loved them so. Sincere thanks to Aunt Dorothy, and the Nurses of 2West, Dr. Arventi, the chaplains at Hotel Dieu Shaver and Father Lizzotti for all they did during this difficult time! Due to the current health concerns, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, St. Catharines. Rite of Committal will be in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations to St Benedict Parish, Milton Ontario –(289- 878-3118) would be appreciated by the family.
