Obituary of Johanna Maria Veldhoven
Veldhoven, Johanna Maria “Ann” Surrounded by her family at Hilltop Manor in Cambridge on Friday February 12, 2010. Passed away after a brave battle with breast cancer, in her 89th year, having been a loving daughter of our Heavenly Father. Beloved wife of the late Gerardus Adrianus Veldhoven.Loving mother of Paul Veldhoven (Jennifer) and Angela (Blair Rankie). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jonathan and Jacob Veldhoven, Gregory (Ashley), Cassaundra and Jessica Rankie, Laurel and Paige Veldhoven. Dear sister of Maria deVreede (late Jacobus) and Andreas VanLeeuwen (Maria). Dear sister-in-law of Adriana VanLeeuwen (late Cornelius), Antonia VanLeeuwen (late Johannes) and Annette VanLeeuwen (late Gerardus) Fondly remembered by her cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by another brother Adelbertus (late Elisabeth). Johanna was born in de Nederlands, she loved and cared for her mother and helped bring up her siblings turning down several marriage proposals to do so. She was married in 1952 and with her husband immigrated to Canada in 1953. As an accomplished seamstress Johanna made her wedding dress, suits for her brother, son and many more. She was a seasoned traveler escaping the winter months in their motor home. She spent her retirement at Sherkston Shores enjoying the beach life. There was not a mean bone in her body and she was loved by all. The family wish to express many thanks to the Hilltop Manor Staff. Friends may call at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St., St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Monday, February 15, 2010 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Julia’s Church, 251 Glenridge Avenue, St. Catharines on Tuesday February 16, 2010 at 10am. Rite of Committal to follow in Pleasantview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fonthill. Vigil prayers will be celebrated at the funeral home on Monday afternoon at 3pm. Due to severe flower allergies no live flowers or plants are requested by the family. Memorial donations to St. Julia’s Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society or Canadian Cancer Society “Breast Cancer” would be appreciated by the family. Mom your earthly journey is now complete and your heavenly Father is pleased with You - So until we meet again at Jesus’s feet, God be with you.
