Obituary of George Lalos

Lalos, George “Yiorgi” Suddenly passed away surrounded by his loving family, relatives and friends at the Hamilton General Hospital on Monday February 21, 2011. George Lalos , aged 79 years, loving husband and best friend of Niki Lalos for over forty-nine years. “Thank you for my wonderful life and the beautiful memories we created together. Yiorgi, I will love you forever.” Loving father of Sofia Lalos and Yiota and her husband George Massalis.(his loving son-in-law). Loving Papou (Grandfather) of Anna and Niki, the grandchildren he loved, cherished and adored. Dear brother of Anna ( Theodoros Bartzis), Eleonora (Niko Tsiliras), and Stavros Lalos (Filia). Loved son-in-law of Vasiliki Aggeli. Dear brother-in-law of Stergios Raptis, Voula Tsika, Sokratis Aggelis, Haralambos Aggelis, Maria Efstathopoulou, Spiros Aggelis and Panos Katsanis. Fondly remembered by his cousins, nieces, nephews and his simbethero Niko, both in Canada and Greece. Predeceased by his parents Sofia and Panagiotis Lalos, by sisters Kiki Kanellopoulou, Tasia Iliopoulou and Fotina Raptis. George was the former proprietor of the Welland House Hotel and the Embassy Hotel with his brother Steve Lalos and his brother-in-law Stergios Raptis. Darte Funeral Home, 39 Court St., St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Tuesday February 22, 2011 from 7 to 9pm and Wednesday February 23, 2011 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Katharine Greek Orthodox Church, 585 Niagara St., St. Catharines on Thursday February 24, 2011 at 11am. Interment in Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
