O’Brien, Gary Peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital with his family by his side on Sunday, May 6, 2012. In his 74th year, Urban Gary O’Brien, lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 52 years and best friend for 60 years, Anna Marie O’Brien. Dear father of Tracey and her husband Brian Dim and loving “Poppa” of Olivia and Evan Dim. Dear father of Terry O’Brien and his wife Lindsay. Loving “Poppy” of Connor, Abigale and Brielle O’Brien. Dear father of Timothy O’Brien and his wife Darlene. Loving “Poppy” of Jennifer, Katelyn and Brittany O’Brien. Fondly remembered by nephew Kenneth Van Meer, and by our wonderful and caring O’Brien family, Patricia Boese, Deanna and her husband Jim Stanley, Tom O’Brien and his wife Patricia, Tom Muss and his wife Anna, Bob Muss and his wife Lynda, Mike O’Brien and his wife Marlene. After service with Bell Canada for 38 years, Gary “Underground” started a successful career in property renovation at the Fox estate in Niagara On The Lake, which lasted another 12 years. Gary was a member of the Holy Name Society and was a faithful usher of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Niagara-On-The-Lake. Friends may call at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Wednesday May 9, 2012 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, 73 Picton St., Niagara-on-the-Lake, on Thursday May 10, 2012 at 11:00am. The Rite of Committal to follow at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery, Niagara-on-the-Lake. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday May 9, 2012 at 3pm. Memorial donations to either the Cancer Research Society or the St. Catharines Right to Life Association would be appreciated by the family. Gary is thankful to God for a life with the many blessings of joys and sorrows, and extremely thankful for the wonderful, gracious and dear friends whom he was privileged to know and love.
